Phenomenological model of suspended sediment transport in a small catchment

چکیده

Abstract. We develop a phenomenological model of suspended sediment transport on the basis data acquired in Capesterre river, which drains small tropical catchment Guadeloupe. The correctly represents concentration during floods, provided that relation between and water level forms counterclockwise loop. In model, properties river are all lumped into four parameters: settling velocity related to size sediment, threshold acts as proxy for shear stress, characteristic entrainment rate, dimensionless exponent. value parameters changes from one flood next, probably reflecting characteristics fine sediment. Finally, test against French Alps suggests is versatile enough be used diverse hydrological settings.

A model of suspended sediment transport by internal tides

The ability of internal tides to resuspend and advect sediment over continental shelfs and slope regions is investigated by applying an internal wave and sediment transport model. Numerical experiments are carried out, firstly, with the ratio of bathymetry and internal waves characteristics creating critical, subcritical, and supercritical conditions, and secondly, for an observed section of th...

Temporal variation of suspended sediment transport in the Koga catchment, North Western Ethiopia and environmental implications

Cop Abstract: Event sediment transport and yield were studied for 45 events in the upstream part of the 260 km agricultural Koga catchment that drains to an irrigation reservoir. Discharge and turbidity data were collected over a period of more than a year, accompanied by grab sampling. Turbidity was very well correlated with the sediment concentrations from the samples (r = 0.99), which allowe...

Chlorine Transport in a Small Catchment

It is generally known that chlorine compounds are ubiquitous in the environment. In recent years, researchers have concluded that chlorine is part of a biogeochemical cycle in soil involving an interaction between chloride (Clin) and organic-matter-bound chlorine (Clorg). Even though there is indisputable evidence that Clorg is formed naturally, there are actually few simultaneous field measure...

Investigating Suspended-Sediment Transport in a Shallow Lake Using a Three-Dimensional Model

A three-dimensional, unstructured grid, hydrodynamic and suspended-sediment transport model (i.e., SELFE-SED) was developed to simulate temporal and spatial variations of suspended sediment and was applied to the subtropical subalpine Tsuei-Feng Lake (TFL) of Taiwan. The model was validated with measured water level and suspended-sediment concentration in 2009, 2010, and 2011. The overall model...
